NWS: High Wind Warning Wednesday, Nov. 27, in Kane Couny

The National Weather Service Chicago is warning Kane County residents about potentially damaging winds of up to 60 mph expected from mid morning Wednesday through the early afternoon.

The NWS High Wind Watch has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning for all of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Unsettled Weather System

Here is a summary look at the forecast weather for northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. The primary message is after a wet later afternoon and night, with a few thunderstorms, then a windy Wednesday is in store and a High Wind Watch is in effect.

Tranquil weather should prevail Thanksgiving Day before a chance for light rain and/or snow late Thursday night.

Rain chances look to increase later Friday and continue into Saturday.

Possible Overnight Tornado?

There is a chance for thunderstorms tonight (Tuesday, Nov 26, 2019) areawide.

Severe weather is not common in late fall, but there is a low risk for strong to severe thunderstorms late this evening into the overnight hours across the lower Great Lakes.

Strong to locally damaging winds would be the highest concern, largely south and west of Chicago.
