Work on the Randall Road Bridge over Tyler Creek — a joint repair project by the Union Pacific Railraod, Metra and Canadian Pacific Railway — is continuing on Saturday, Nov. 9, according to an updated news release from the Kane County Division of Transportation.

For the first week, construction work hours were during the night from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday in order to minimize impacts to the traveling public.

According to the release, the Saturday, Nov. 9, work hours are during the day, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The original news release said construction would last two weeks, starting Nov. 4, and work hours for that second week will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Temporary daily single-lane closures are required to allow workers to safely complete the work.

The bridge joint repair project will consist of concrete removal, expansion joint repair, polymer concrete, pavement patching, and silicon joint sealer applications. The entire project is anticipated to take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Road work will take place on Randall Road between Big Timber Road and Fletcher Drive.

Motorists should expect long delays while traveling through the work areas and should add additional time to their commutes.

KDOT asks drivers to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering or leaving the site, obey flaggers and comply with traffic control devices within the work zone.
