Scheduled Tree Trimming May Prompt Brief Trail Interruptions in Elgin
There’s some tree-trimming going on in Elgin, starting Monday, Nov. 25, but it doesn’t have to do with the holiday season.
According to a Forest Preserve District of Kane County news release, Lewis Tree Service, a contractor for ComEd, will be trimming trees along the Fox River Trail from Hastings Street south to Elgin Avenue.
The project is part of the utility’s effort to keep trees trimmed near power lines and utility poles, to protect customer service, and to remove dead and declining trees, such as Ash, that may pose a safety risk.
The tree trimming along the Fox River Trail in Elgin may lead to brief trail interruptions beginning Monday, Nov. 25, and work is expected to continue through January.
While the Fox River Trail will remain open during the project, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County asks trail users to obey all signs and barricades, and to always use caution when traveling past trucks and equipment on the trail. Signs will be posted on the trail at both ends of the project, to alert trail users.
