A two-week investigation by federal and local law-enforcers has put a stop to an alleged ecstasy-trafficking operation working out of a home in Geneva.

According to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office news release, a team of U.S. Postal Service, Homeland Security, Geneva Police Department and Sheriff’s Office personnel conducted the investigation that ultimately led to multiple drug charges again Joseph Parisi, 31, of Geneva and landed more than $80,000 in drugs that had been delivered from the Netherlands to two separate Geneva address.

Reports said the investigation began when Homeland Security investigators intercepted a package of suspected ecstasy being shipped from the Netherlands and addressed to Parisi at a residence on Kingston Drive, on Geneva’s East Side.

Investigators then intercepted a second package — this one containing 55 grams of ecstasy — that was sent to Parisi’s home in the 1700 block Fargo Boulevard, on Geneva’s West Side.

When Parisi took possession of the second package at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2019), a team of law enforcers executed a search warrant of his home, where sheriff’s deputies also located about seven grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a small amount of cocaine, about 65 grams of cannabis, and an additional small amount of ecstasy.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the Kingston Drive address and found the package addressed to Paris that contained about 120 grams of ecstasy, according to the news release.

The total estimated street value of the drugs was more than $80,000.

Parisi faces charges of:

• Controlled substance trafficking, a Class X felony.
• Manufacture/Delivery of Ecstasy, a Class X felony.
• Possession of a controlled substance (Ecstasy), a Class 1 felony.
• Attempt to possess Ecstasy, a Class 2 felony.
• Three counts of possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms), all Class 4 felonies.
• Possession of cannabis, a Class A misdemeanor.
• Possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Parisi is being held in the Kane County Jail on $80,000 bail. His next court date is set for Dec. 6.

The charges against Parisi are not proof of guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
