St. Charles Firefighter Injured in Friday Fire of Trailer Inside Garage
A St. Charles firefighter was injured while fighting a fire in a trailer parked inside a State Street garage.
According to a St. Charles Fire Department news release, at 7:34 a.m. Friday (Nov. 15, 2019), the St. Charles Fire Department was dispatched to 803 State St. for an unknown fire situation.
Firefighters were on the scene by 7:37 a.m. and found light smoke coming from the garage area of the house.
Firefighters identified a fire in a trailer within the garage at that address. They were able to confine the fire to the garage and then extinguish the involved trailer.
The structure was checked for any fire extension and the smoke was ventilated from the building. Firefighters removed the trailer from the garage and cleared the scene just after 10 a.m.
The occupant of the home made the 911 call and was able to self-evacuate prior to the arrival of the Fire Department.
One firefighter was slightly injured during the fire. The fire is still under investigation.
The fire loss is estimated at $5,000 to the structure and contents.
The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by the Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, West Chicago, South Elgin, and North Aurora Fire Departments during the incident.
