The Kane County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed in an early-Saturday crash on North Ohio Street in Aurora.
Estebalize Venecia, 22, of Aurora was pronounced deceased at the scene, while two others were taken to the hospital, according to Coroner’s Office and police reports.
The Coroner’s Office described the preliminary cause of Venecia’s death as “multiple injuries consistent with an automobile collision.”
Toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensic lab at the time of the autopsy.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office is cooperating with the Aurora Police Department in their ongoing investigation of the incident.
Just before 3 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 23, 2019), the Aurora Police Department received reports of a rollover crash in the 600 block of North Ohio Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found a car on its side with Venecia pinned underneath and two other people trapped inside the vehicle.
The Aurora Fire Department extricated the victims from the vehicle, and paramedics immediately began providing life-saving care to Venecia. Two victims were transported to an area hospital in critical condition and have since been upgraded to stable condition.
The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Unit began the investigating of the single-vehicle crash, using state-of-the-art drone technology to create a 3D digital map of the scene that allows investigators to see specific details and measurements of the scene.
North Ohio Street remained closed between Rural Street and Lehnertz Avenue while traffic investigators reconstructed the accident.
Aurora’s Emergency Management Agency provided light trucks and street blockades to assist with road closures and scene lighting.
