IDOT Replaces Traffic Signal at State And Third in Geneva
The Illinois Department of Transportation will be replacing a traffic signal mast arm today (Monday, Dec. 16, 2019) near the Starbucks on the northeast corner of State Street (IL Route 38) and Third Street.
All traffic signals at the downtown Geneva intersection will be flashing red during the project. Westbound State Street traffic will be restricted to one lane and possibly halted all together intermittently to allow for the removal and replacement of the mast arm, which extends over the roadway.
IDOT informed the city on Friday, Dec. 13, that the mast arm had failed an inspection and needs to be replaced. Meade, IDOT’s contractor, is scheduled to begin work at 9 a.m. Dec. 16, weather permitting.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic congestion.
