Jennifer Baerren Is Batavia’s New Ward 1 Alderman
The Batavia City Council has selected Jennifer Baerren to fill Scott Salvati’s Ward 1 position.
Salvati stepped down because he is moving to Elburn. At the Dec. 16 Batavia City Council meeting, Mayor Jeff Schielke presented Salvati with a proclamation for his service to the community, and Baerren took the oath of office.
Baerren interviewed with City Council on Dec.10, along with candidates Jason Stoops and Christopher J Solfa. Council members selected Barren in executive session.
Professionally, she works for Chicago-based Heidrick & Struggles, a provider of leadership consulting, culture-shaping and senior-level executive search services.
Baerren’s volunteer work includes Batavia’s Access Toy Drive, the Batavia Park District’s Halloween Haunted Quarry and the Mothers’ Club Foundation.
She has been a Batavia resident since 2004.
Media reports say her interim term ends in 2021.
The 1st Ward is located on Batavia’s southeast side, extending south of East Wilson Street and east of South Raddant Road, including the Woodland Hills, 14th Colony, Breton Manor and Cherry Park subdivisions.
Constituents can contact Baerren at jbaerren@cityofbatavia.net.
