Meet Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarlard Dec. 19 in East Dundee
Want to get a handle on recycling do’s and don’ts as the holiday draws near?
You’ll have a chance to do just that — and to meet Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland — during a special event set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Fox Valley Library, 55 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.
At the event sponsored by state Rep. Allen Skillicorn, you’ll get the lowdown on what you should be recycling at home and at work. Jarland will cover what can and cannot go in your curbside recycling cart and the statewide work being done on reducing contamination in recycling streams.
Jarland will also share top recycling tips that answer the most commonly asked questions. Learn about where you can
recycle other items at drop-off locations throughout Kane County: Styrofoam, electronics, books, hazardous waste, batteries, paint and more.
You’ll get the 2020 schedule of Recycling Events, including the free confidential document shredding dates. This
session will include a slide presentation, time for questions and answers and some fun giveaways, including the Kane
County Recycles Green Guide.

Speaker Bio
Jennifer Jarland has been the recycling program coordinator for Kane County since 2011. Her work includes managing the electronics recycling sites, conducting recycling collection events, household hazardous waste program management, and public outreach.
While municipalities all contract for curbside collection, Jennifer is the hotline for all questions related to recycling.
While managing, improving, and expanding recycling programs for Kane County, she also works with fellow Illinois county and agency colleagues on broader state issues, such as food scrap composting, electronics recycling, and a task force for recycling contamination reduction.
She presently serves as the chairman of the board of the Illinois Food Scrap Coalition and as secretary on the Board of the Illinois Counties Solid Waste Management Association.
A student of life, Jennifer enjoys making art out of found objects, growing an organic food garden in her back yard in Chicago, spending time with friends and being in nature, be it the urban jungle or otherwise.
