• Editor’s Note: This article is part of a series providing information on the primary election that takes place March 17, 2020, in Kane County. The Kane County Clerk’s Office has posted lists of local candidates who have filed petitions for the March 17 primary ballot.

A lottery for candidate placement on the ballot will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Kane County Clerk’s Office in Building B of the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva.

As of today (Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019), there are two candidates lists posted on the Clerk’s Office website, one for Republican candidates and one for Democratic candidates. The filing period for candidates from those parties ended on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019.

Among the seats that will be contested in 2020 are U.S. Senate, U.S. House, state senate, state house, Illinois Supreme Court, Illinois appellate courts, state and local ballot measures.

The 2020 General Election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The primary ballots posted on the Clerk’s Office website include the elected positions of Kane County Board chairman, circuit clerk, county auditor, county coroner, county recorder, state’s attorney and even-numbered County Board seats.

The candidates lists on the Clerk’s Office website also include the names of candidates for precinct committeeperson.
