Judges of the 16th Judicial Circuit have selected two finalists — out of a field of 28 — for the position of associate judge: Aurora private practitioner Reginald Campbell and William Engerman, bureau chief of the Felony Trial Division in the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Campbell was admitted to the practice of law in November 1992. He began his career as an associate in the Law Offices of Herb Hill in Aurora. He then worked as a solo practitioner from 1994 until 1996, when he went to work for PNC Mortgage Securities Corp.

In 2001, Campbell became an assistant state’s attorney in Kane County. He left in 2006 to become a partner in the law firm of Pedersen, Campbell and Irvin in Aurora, where he practices today.

Campbell is a graduate of Oswego High School and received an undergraduate degree in accounting from Southern Illinois University. He received his law degree from the University of Indiana.

Engerman was admitted to the practice of law in Maryland in May of 1988. He initially worked as an associate in the law offices of Neil Axel in Rockville MD, until February 1991. He then came to the Chicago area and was associated with the law offices of Borovsky and Ehrlich until he joined the law firm of Robert Kuzas in 2001.

In 2004, he joined the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office as an assistant state’s attorney until he left to be the first assistant states attorney in 2008. He returned to Kane County in March of 2011, where he serves as a bureau chief.

Engerman is a graduate of Maine Township High School East in Park Ridge and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He received his law degree from American University in Washington, DC.
