
APD: 19-Year-Old Faces Weapons Charges After Weekend Shooting
The Aurora Police Department has arrested a man after a shooting sent one person to the hospital early Saturday morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 4, 2020), the Aurora Police Department responded to calls of a person shot inside a home in the 400 block of Florida Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man suffering from a graze wound.
Aurora Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Aurora Police Department detectives responded to the scene and began interviewing potential witnesses, canvassing the area and investigating the specific circumstances of the incident. Evidence Technicians from Aurora Police’s Evidence Unit also responded to the scene to identify and collect forensic evidence from the shooting.
Through interviews with witnesses, detectives were able to determine that a social gathering was occurring at a home in the block when multiple shots were fired at the home. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to police arrival. Investigators do not believe this was a random act of violence.
During the course of the investigation, 19-year-old Daron Bovan, of the 400 block of Florida Avenue in Aurora, was arrested and charged with the following:
- One Class 2 felony count of Unlawful Use or Possession of Weapons or Ammunition by Convicted Felons.
- One Class 3 felony count of Posses Firearm without FOID Card (Not Eligible).
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and are asking for the community’s help with any information that they may be able to provide.
