Forest Preserve Remembers Police Officer Harold Carter

Forest Preserve Remembers Police Officer Harold Carter

Members of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County took some time at this morning’s meeting (Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020) to remember Harold Carter, who served for decades as a police officer with Montgomery, Aurora and Forest Preserve departments.

Forest Preserve Executive Director Monica Meyers described Carter as a kind man who cared more about his family, friends and community than he did about himself.

“He will be missed,” she said.

Carter, 71, of Oswego, died Jan. 4, 2020, according to his obituary on the Healy Chapel website.

Carter served his country with the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. He served on the Montgomery Police Department for four years, then served 26 years with the Aurora Police Department. After retirement from the APD, he was employed with the Kane County Forest Preserve Police for 11 years.
