‘Home Show’ Coming To Pheasant Run Despite Upcoming Online Sale of Resort Property

The popular “Old House, New House Home Show” is coming to Pheasant Run in February, despite recent news that the resort property is set for online auction that starts Jan. 27.

The home show, set to take place Feb. 7 through Feb. 9 at the St. Charles resort and convention center, is billed as “the largest, most innovative and longest-running home show in the Chicago area.”

The Old House New House® Home Show consistently sells out with a waiting list of companies eager to participate. The show’s 92% exhibitor return rate is a testament to its popularity.

It features 300 award-winning contractors, designers, remodelers, leading brands and creative craftsmen.

A portion of the ticket sales for the event support the Northern Fox Valley Habitat For Humanity.

The home show exhibits the latest innovations in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, landscaping, storage solutions, sustainable design, home theaters, granite and marble, architecture, interior design, custom woodworking, window treatments, space planning, painting, decorating, cooking demonstrations, tools, custom cabinetry, ponds and water features, hardscape, decks, spas, sunrooms, gazebos, gadgets, home furnishings, insulation, security systems, heating and air conditioning, tankless water heaters, geo-thermal HVAC, concrete, roofing, waterproofing, windows, doors, floors and more.

Visitors can meet expert craftsmen and learn practical tips from the free workshops offered throughout the weekend.

Presentations include Greg Wittstock, aka The Pond Guy, Mina Starsiak Hawk of HGTV and Jack Pizzo, founder of the award-winning Pizzo Group, one of the Midwest’s largest ecological restoration firms.

Update of Pheasant Run’s Status

Resort officials said via Facebook comments to a Dec. 25 post that the resort isn’t closing but is “moving to a limited service model at this time.”

Pheasant Run employees 190 people and plans to lay off as many as 149, according to media posts.

The Kane County Chronicle reports that, according to a letter from Hostmark Hospitality Group about Pheasant Run’s proposal to restructure, “employment separations are expected to commence on or possibly before Jan. 12, 2020.”

According to the website ten-x.com, the 56-year-old resort based in St. Charles will be sold in an online auction set for Jan. 27 through Jan. 29. The opening bid price is $2 million.

It’s not clear at this time how the prospective sale will affect tenants such as Zanies Comedy Club or whether the golf course will remain open.
