Montgomery Hosts Free Electronics Recycling Jan. 18 For Residents Only

A quarterly recycling event for Montgomery residents will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Public Works facility, 891 Knell Road.

Residents who participate in the village’s trash contract with DC Recycling may drop off electronics (anything electrical that plugs in, including TV’s of all types, computer monitors, fans), rechargeable or lead acid batteries and metal.

Also accepted will be household hazardous waste, including pesticides, flammables (oil-based paint, paint thinner, gas and oil), caustic cleaners, toxics (such as pool chemicals and weed killer), CFL bulbs, and propane tanks 20 lbs. or less.

This event is hosted by DC Recycling for is for village of Montgomery residential customers only, and do not include businesses, unincorporated areas or apartment buildings.

There is no fee to drop off any of these items; however, a photo ID will be required to show residency.

Note that this recycling event will not accept prescription drugs, latex paint, appliances, regular light bulbs, regular alkaline household batteries, or tires. Complete information may be found on the Village’s website at MontgomeryIL.org.
