Sheriff Investigates Shooting on Route 30 in Aurora Township

Chicago expressways aren’t the only roadways where gun violence has erupted in recent days.

Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday on Route 30 west of IL Route 31 in unincorporated Aurora Township.

The victim’s vehicle turned onto Route 30 and began to head west. A subject from the vehicle that was following the victim’s vehicle began to open fire. An 18-year-old male in the back seat was struck several times.

The first vehicle fled and drove to a residence in Montgomery. The shooting victim was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center and eventually flown to Loyola Hospital in Chicago. His wounds do not appear to be life threatening, the Sheriff’s Office said. The other three occupants in the first vehicle were uninjured.

Sheriff’s deputies do not have any suspect information at this time and have not ruled out that the shooting was related to gang activity, the news release said.
