We don’t know for absolutely certain whether Brady Sullivan of Geneva was the first baby born in Kane County in 2019, but we do know he was the first at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, because we have a news release and a photo to prove it.

Brady Sullivan

Thanks to the folks at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, we can share that Brady was born at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, to proud parents Megan and Patrick Sullivan.

Brady weighed 8 pounds, 5.7 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Congratulations to the Sullivan family, and best wishes for long life and a happy new year!

Illinois State Statute (410 ILCS 535/25) governing who can be issued a certified copy of a certificate:

  1. Upon the order of a court of competent jurisdiction; or
  2. In case of a birth certificate, upon the specific written request by U.S. Postal Service mail for a certification or certified copy by the person, if of legal age, by a parent or other legal representative of the person to whom the record of birth relates, or by a person having a genealogical interest; or
  3. Upon the specific written request for a certification or certified copy by a department of the state or a municipal corporation of the federal government; or

Because of the confidential nature of these records, Illinois statutes provide that copies of birth records may be obtained only by the person himself (if of legal age), a parent, or other legal representative.

Fees for Birth Certificates are $16 for the first copy and $6 for each additional copy of the same record. A total of three copies of the same record may be ordered at one time.
